FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything hosts usually ask before connecting their calendar.

How does Spothello actually work?
Connect your Google Calendar, then either send an email through Spothello's booking invite or CC notify@spothello.com on any existing thread. Spothello reads your real availability and sends the recipient a live, interactive calendar right inside the email — Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo render it as a tappable picker. One tap books the slot on your calendar and theirs, with no separate booking page and no account for the recipient to create.
What happens in email clients that don't support the interactive picker?
Apple Mail and other clients that don't render the interactive format get a clean fallback with real booking links pulled from the same live availability — tapping one still books instantly. The bot also handles a plain-text reply like "Thursday afternoon works" directly in the thread, no picker needed.
Do I have to send a special kind of email to use it?
No. If you're already emailing someone, just add notify@spothello.com to the To or Cc field of that thread. Spothello identifies you as the host by matching your From address to your connected calendar, computes your open slots, and emails everyone else on the thread a booking invite.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account gets a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. You can connect your calendar and send real invites during the trial.
How is my calendar data kept secure?
Google Calendar OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest and only ever used to read free/busy availability and write events to the one calendar you designate as the source of truth. Spothello's bot only reads a thread when you've deliberately CC'd it — it never scans your inbox generally.
Does Spothello handle time zones automatically?
Yes. Availability is computed in your own configured timezone, and Spothello picks up a recipient's timezone passively from their reply so later invites are shown in their local time — no manual timezone picking required on either side.
Can a team share one Spothello account?
Company accounts support multiple seats — a company admin manages the account and members each connect their own calendar. Solo accounts are for a single person and are capped at one seat. See pricing for how seats are billed.
What happens if two people try to book the same slot?
Spothello re-checks your live calendar availability at the exact moment someone taps a slot, not just when the invite was first sent. Whoever books first gets it; anyone else who taps that same slot afterward is told it's no longer available and shown what else is open.
Can I reschedule or cancel a booking?
Yes. Every booking confirmation includes a link to reschedule or cancel, and hosts can also manage bookings from their dashboard.
How much does Spothello cost?
Solo accounts are a flat monthly price after the 30-day trial; company accounts are billed per seat. See the pricing page for current numbers, plus a few optional add-ons — a custom sender name, a personal @spothello.com address, alternate email designs, and a Claude connector — that can be added individually.
